We had planned a nice little trip to a Plum Park that has a ninja obstacle course on it because the kids had a half day at school on Friday. However, the rain changed that and we decided to surprise the kids with a trip to Tokyo to Kidzania. We went to their website and did some major research on how we could get the most out of our trip there and we were prepared when we showed up. Kidzania is a 2/3 size city with over 90 jobs for the kids. Sometimes they get paid for the jobs and other times they are the customers that have to pay for the service. As you would expect, everything is clean, organized and in very good condition. You can put on job on reservation (kind of like a Disney Fast Pass) while you waste time doing some of the not so popular jobs. The kids also have to go to the bank to set up an account to get an ATM card where they deposit/withdraw money when needed. They are given a $50 traveler's cheque to deposit when they arrive. Our session was from 4-9pm and we were there for every single minute of it. It was an hour drive home so I can safely say we were happy and exhausted at 10:15 when we got home. It's definitely an experience we will do again as the kids only were able to do about 8-10 of the jobs in that time period. All of the jobs were sponsored by famous companies in Japan. It's like a children's museum on crack. So much fun. Most of the things were spoken in Japanese but there were a few special workers that could speak English and most of the time the Japanese speakers could also work some broken English.:) It was easy enough and the kids just watched what the others were doing to figure out what they should be doing.

What a fantastic idea! I wish they had something like this for adults :) Wouldn't it be cool if we could actually spend a day or even a week in each of a bunch of different jobs between high school and college? Or even now...
Please tell Cady that she looks like a bright ray of sunshine in her yellow dress. Heehee. It's totally her style.
